Breaking the Rules

Honestly, breaking the rules is something that I've always had trouble with. I tried really hard, when I was in Canada, to do this project but there was no inspiration. Walking around the school, seeing the same things, simply didn't grab at me as a photographer. Luckily, I went to NYC for the Art field trip. I was overwhelmed by the amount of inspiration, art and culture in the city. It was my first time going to New York which made the impact on me so much more substantial than it would of, if I visited. Here are my results.

I, personally, am quite proud of this photo. Mainly because it stretches the expected conventions of photography. The subject, Adam, is dead centre. As a perfectionist, the subject is nearly always in some sort of rule of thirds position. There's nothing to look at, but still this photo is really interesting to stare at.

Man, this photo is one of my favorite photos I've taken so far this year. Because, mainly, it was an accident. I was just waving my camera around all willy nilly and accidentally snapped this one. It does meet the requirements and stretches the boundaries I was referring to earlier.  The eye is drawn to the dead centre. Say whaaaaa? Also there's nothign really to look at. The photo is cluttered with people, but not their faces. Random hair, shoulders all draw attention. The black and white effect is used for aesthetic appeal. Lovely.
