Information
The image of the enthusiastic gentleman in the original picture, is named Joseph Ducreux. He was a French painter, portrait painter, pastelist, miniaturist, and engraver. Much of his life's work was dedicated to the court of France, prior to the French Revolution. Ducreux actually painted this self portrait himself, and many of his less formal portraits include a wide variety of hilarious facial expressions, and beyond what is expected of a official portrait.
He was quite the character, and his legend still lives on today. In 2011, the self entitled piece "Yawning" (Painted in 1935) was featured in the Getty Museum. Most relevant, however, is his use of this portrait on the internet. Since its discovery, this portrait has been used on several Memes and has thus far been an internet sensation.
